Meet the Faculty Senate
Senators are elected by faculty in their respective colleges or units to serve 3-year terms or to complete a term when there is a vacancy. Elections for senators are held every spring unless a special election is needed during the year to fill a vacant seat.
As advocates for faculty welfare, senators collaborate in the decision-making process, providing faculty input and feedback on campus policies and submit recommendations to the Provost and President. Senators communicate with their constituents about the Senate's activities, including discussions of campus issues, review of proposed policies and initiatives, and gather faculty feedback on a variety of matters that affect faculty, staff, and students. The duties of a senator outline responsibilities for communicating with and soliciting input from constituents.
Senators serve as members of Senate committees or They are active participants in the shared governance process and provide robust service to the campus community.
